Quick Life Update

Hey guys! Just wanted to reach out to you to let you know what’s going on in my life seeing as big things are changing and I’m super excited!

In May I was laid off from my job. It was a bad company and I really wasn’t upset about it. However, I’ve been job hunting since then and while unemployment is low in the US I never had any interviews or responses. To say I was a little self-conscious is a bit of an understatement. When you send out 100+ applications/emails and no one contacts you it kinda makes you think about what you’re doing with your life.

Well I recently received a job offer (Yay right?! – Actually No) from an employer I wasn’t really interested in. I know what you’re thinking, “Why would I apply for a job I don’t even want?” Well when you’ve applied to over 100 jobs it’s easy to just start applying to anything.

So it got me thinking about what I really want to do with my life. I started thinking about what I was good at and what I truly enjoy doing. And that lead me to wedding planning. I’ve always wanted to start my own event planning business but there’s never been a good time to just go for it. Until now. I was offered the opportunity to help push the event department for my aunt’s candy store further. My aunt and uncle took over Freese’s Candy Shoppe when they first got married and since then have built it into a well-known brand. She’s done weddings and corporate events before but doesn’t really have time to build. So now I’ll be handling the events for her and I couldn’t be more excited.

I’ll be able to build my event planning experience and build contacts I never would have been able to do on my own. Maybe one day I’ll start my own event planning business but for now I can’t wait to see how far I can build this part of her business.

After talking with the hubby (who has been incredibly supportive of my decision <3) I noticed my mood shift and that weird feeling like a house sitting on my chest (yay anxiety) went away. This position will allow me to continue building my blog and I’ve actually decided to adjust my blog “blueprint”. I’m going to post 3 times every week. Sunday (Travel), Tuesday (Life) and Thursday (Books). With a Disney blog thrown in every a couple times/month. Because of my mood I’ve really neglected my book review duties and I feel absolutely horrible for the book tours and authors I’ve let down. But as of today I feel 100% more confident and ready to push forward.

Here’s to reaching for your dreams!
